Sustain Jewish Life Locally and Globally

Local Efforts

JFNCF is committed to strengthening Jewish life across Gainesville, Ocala, and surrounding areas through grants, partnerships, and meaningful programs that reflect the diversity and richness of our community.

Through the generous support of our donors and partners, JFNCF helps:

    • Support Jewish summer camp experiences, giving children the opportunity to build Jewish identity, friendships, and lasting memories.
    • Enhance educational and youth programs at local synagogues, Hebrew schools, and community centers.
    • Foster Jewish culture and music by funding initiatives like the ShabbaTones community chorus.
    • Strengthen communal giving through the Mitzvah Makers program, which distributes thousands of dollars annually to local nonprofits serving individuals in crisis.
    • Build connections across generations with programs for teens, college students, young professionals, and empty nesters—including leadership development and social engagement opportunities.
    • Respond compassionately to local needs through partnerships with area organizations, including the Helping Hands Clinic, to support the unhoused and underserved.

These efforts, alongside programs highlighted in the graphic—such as PJ Library, Holocaust education, and K’nisa—demonstrate JFNCF’s commitment to enriching Jewish life and uplifting the broader North Central Florida community.

Environmental Programs

– Reverse Tashlich and conservation seminars (Team Tikkun – part of Good Deeds Program)

PJ Library
Sign Up for PJ Library
  • 300+ children and their families receive PJ Library books and CD’s featuring Jewish content. The North Central Florida community has one of the most active and large programs, relative to our community size. 
  • Expansion – The Harold Grinspoon Foundation supported PJ Library’s growth in NCF through a one-year grant, matched by The Colen-Bonaventure Fund. An anonymous foundation has pledged $20,000 to support the program through August 2027.
  • Celebrations – 15 years in North Central Florida, Shabbat Under the Stars, monthly programs and playgroups and Shalom Baby bags to welcome newborns.

Global Efforts

Each year, the JFNCF Annual Campaign raises over $40,000, which is distributed through the Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) to support Jewish life both locally and globally
Recently, $20,000 was allocated to JFNA to aid Jewish communities in Israel and around the world. In times of crisis, our North Central Florida community has also stepped up with emergency fundraising to support Israeli organizations impacted by conflict. These contributions have extended beyond Israel, helping displaced Ukrainian Jews and providing resources to families leaving areas where they face antisemitic violence and discrimination.

In addition to general aid, JFNCF donors have helped fund impactful organizations such as:

    • Beit Ruth Educational and Therapeutic Village – A supportive home and healing community for abused and neglected girls and young women in Afula, Israel.
    • The Jaffa Institute – A nonprofit working to break the cycle of poverty in Jaffa-Tel Aviv through after-school programs for at-risk youth and food packages for Holocaust survivors.

Thanks to your generosity, JFNCF is able to extend compassion and support far beyond our local borders—strengthening Jewish lives around the world.
